We’re looking for a sharp, technically brilliant Metamaterials Wizard to help AMbelievable push the boundaries of deep-tech innovation in sports equipment.
This role is for someone with a strong engineering mindset, advanced implicit-modeling skills, and solid Python capabilities — someone ready to help us transition from product-focused development to platform-based metamaterials intelligence.
You will play a key role in building the computational and design backbone that will enable AMbelievable to become the metamaterials intelligence layer for the sports industry.
Responsibilities
- Design, simulate, and optimize metamaterials using implicit modeling tools (e.g., nTop, Altair).
- Develop and refine computational workflows and design automation pipelines.
- Build parametric models, simulation scripts, and performance-prediction frameworks in Python.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and product teams to translate platform capabilities into actual performance advantages in sports applications.
- Validate and iterate on metamaterial concepts through prototypes, simulations, and experimental results.
- Contribute to the development of AMbelievable’s metamaterials platform architecture.
- Document tools, workflows, and design rules for internal and future platform use.
- Support the transition from single-product R&D to scalable, platform-oriented technology.
Must Have
- 3+ years of experience in a highly technical role (computational design, mechanical engineering, simulation engineering, or similar).
- Expert proficiency in advanced CAD for implicit modeling (nTop, Altair, or equivalent).
- Strong Python skills (beyond basic scripting: data manipulation, automation, API usage, numerical methods, etc.).
- Solid understanding of materials science, structural mechanics, or metamaterials concepts.
- Ability to think both computationally and strategically, with a clear vision of scalable architecture.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-moving deep-tech startup.
- Good communication and documentation habits. Fluent in English and Italian
- Valid work permit for Italy
Nice to have
- Experience developing design tools, frameworks, or internal software platforms.
- Knowledge of FEA/CFD tools and numerical simulation techniques.
- Experience with additive manufacturing or lattice-based design.
- Familiarity with machine learning applied to materials or geometry optimization.
- Background in sports engineering or high-performance mechanical systems.
- Experience in startups or rapid-iteration R&D environments.
